Raoul Hyman and Fabian Schiller proved masters of the art of overtaking at Zandvoort as the FIA Formula 3 European Championship visited the circuit for the first time since 2013.
A track where experience undoubtedly pays off, the two rookies worked hard through free practice to learn the circuit ahead of qualifying, however the qualifying sessions disappointed with a lot of traffic on track for all drivers, leaving the two Team West-Tec F3 drivers much lower than hoped for.
They weren't about to give up though and both drivers were able to race through the field to achieve top 15 results in each of the three races.
Race three was especially noteworthy as, in a race interrupted by three safety cars Raoul passed many cars to finish 11th, with Fabi only two cars behind, after qualifying all the way down in 24th position.
Next up is the annual series visit to the Red Bull Ring where the team was very competitive in 2014, and so is now working hard to top that this year.
John Miller, Team West-Tec F3: We need to work hard on our qualifying performance as that is where we are letting ourselves down. Our race pace is very good, and both drivers have shown they can be superb racers, but qualifying low down on the grid is handicapping us.
Both drivers raced well once again though and, though far from top priority, we scored more good points in both the Teams and Rookie categories.
Team West-Tec F3 made its FIA F3 debut in 2014, finishing sixth in the Teams Championship in just its first year, working with HWA-Mercedes as engine partner. Team West-Tec F3 enjoys team support from Nielsen Chemicals, Eibach, B-G Racing, Mechanix, MIS Locktons and Freem GB.
