Jordan Oon Joins Team West-Tec F3 for 2012
Jordan Oon is the second driver to be announced for 2012 by reigning European Formula 3 Open Champions Team West-Tec F3, after a successful testing programme in December of 2011.
Jordan, 21, from Australia will drive a Copa F308 alongside the already announced Luca Orlandi as the team seeks to win the Copa title for the third time in just four years.
A Formula BMW Pacific scholarship and race winner in 2010, and the Formula Pilota China Master Champion in 2011, Jordan can be expected to challenge at the very front as he undertakes his first full racing season in Europe.
Jordan Oon: We tested at both Valencia and Barcelona in December and it went well. There was a good feeling within the team and it is clear to see why they are the Champions. I am really looking forward to racing in Europe on some of the world’s greatest and most famous tracks and I am sure we are going to go very well together.
John Miller, Team West-Tec F3:
Jordan has had promising results in Asia, and we were very pleased with his progress during our winter testing programme. By the end of that, he was pretty much as quick as anyone on the circuit, a great achievement considering some of the drivers already had two years in F3 behind them.
As a result of the testing, we were able to offer him a place in our team and we are delighted he has been able to accept that opportunity. I am sure he is going to do exceptionally well in 2012, and we will be giving him the maximum support to achieve his ambitions.
We will also be operating two of the new Dallara F312 chassis this year, and I hope I can reveal the name of the first pilot for those shortly.
