Team West-Tec F3 Dominates
December European F3 Open Testing

Team West-Tec F3, the reigning European F3 Open Team Champions, recorded commanding times at the head of the timesheets as the leading teams tested at Valencia and Barcelona.

A dominant P1 and P2 at Valencia, out of 16 drivers, was a great start with no other team recording a lap within 0.5s  of the  team’s  best.  Returning  driver Sam Dejonghe lead  the  way,  although team debutant Conor Daly was within a tenth, even though he had just one day in the car, when he was the fastest.

Indeed Sam did 16 laps in one single run on track that were better than that managed by any other team all week, a major achievement from the young Belgian!

Luca Orlandi, experiencing the F308 he will race in Copa in 2012 for the first time, also impressed as he set personal best times for the circuit and he was joined for one day by new team driver Jordan Oon.

Moving to Barcelona, with Jordan and Luca, the West-Tec team again recorded very competitive lap-times. Dialling himself into the team and F3, Jordan lapped within 0.1s of the very fastest and Luca again improved his personal best at the circuit.

Sam Dejonghe: It was good to get back out on track and we achieved a lot in the two days I drove. I was really pleased to be able to be so quick and that surely bodes well for 2012.

Conor Daly:
This was my first experience of the European F3 Open car and I liked it a lot. The Team West-Tec car is very well set-up and engineered car, which meant the times came easily.

Jordan Oon:
It was great to join the team and I was especially pleased at Barcelona where we were able to lap right at the sharp end. I know there is much more pace to come and 2012 is looking very exciting.

Luca Orlandi:
I found I liked the F308 car a lot, more than the F306 I drove this year. I was able to improve my best times at both circuits and I am looking forward to a competitive season in 2012.

John Miller, Team West-Tec F3:
Overall we had a great test week. Sam has grown so much as a driver since we have worked together and it is a genuine pleasure to see him perform so well. Conor is clearly a high-class act and was stunningly quick out of the box on the one day he did.

Jordan is another good young driver who showed himself to be talented with a lot of potential, which I am looking forward to seeing realised. His performance, particularly in Barcelona, was very, very good.

Luca also took to the F308 really well, setting quick times at both tracks, which was a pleasure to see.

On Thursday we also had the pleasure of attending the RFEdA Awards in Madrid, where Fabio Gamberini was presented with his trophies for being Copa Champion in 2011, as well as finishing in that amazing third overall in the Championship, as well as us receiving the coveted Team Champions trophy.
