Gavin has always been a motorsport professional, since completing an engineering apprenticeship on leaving school. Rising as far as British Formula 3 as a driver, Gavin then turned his hand to management and design. His Swift Formula Ford car won 21 championships worldwide.

Relocating his base from Plymouth to a much more centrally positioned Corby in 2001, Team West-Tec opened another chapter in its history as it became the most successful team in ASCAR/SCSA racing around the fearsome Rockingham Oval.

Also, when relocating, Gavin met John Miller for the first time and the two became firm friends and now operate the team jointly as Co-Team Principals, with Gavin concentrating on technical considerations and John on commercial matters.

In recent seasons Team West-Tec has enjoyed tremendous success in Formula Ford, Euro Open Formula 3 Speedcar and has also now embarked on challenging for the FIA European Top Fuel drag racing championship.

Since relocating to Corby, Team West-Tec has continually sought to improve its facilities and invest in its staff who now work from a purposeful 10,500 square foot facility. Many of these staff have also been contracted by Team West-Tec to work in other series on occasion, such as the Le Mans Series, Le Mans 24 Hour, Porsche Supercup, A1 GP and Megane Trophy where additional success and experience has been earned.
