European F3 Open
The ever-growing European Formula 3 Open Championships
were previously known as Spanish Formula 3 and started in 2001 and, since then,
has steadily grown, becoming one of the strongest F3 championships that any
country or continent has to offer.
A superb track selection, a great value for money budget
and with an enviable record of graduating drivers to the higher levels of
single-seater racing in recent years, European Open F3 has been unmatched by
any other Formula 3 Championship worldwide, which is why Team West-Tec became
the first ever British team to compete in 2007.
Back in late 2006, the Team West-Tec principals travelled
to Spain and completed the purchase of assets from Racing Engineering, the
leading Spanish Formula 3 team who wanted to concentrate on their successful
GP2 team. We have since forged strong links with Racing
Engineering with our F3 drivers being regular visitors to the GP2 team.
In 2007 Team West-Tec took Spanish F3 by storm. Initially concentrating on the Copa de Espana class, the team took seven wins and six
second places to become Copa de Espana Champions with star Norwegian driver,
Thor-Christian Ebbesvik. The team scored the highest overall finish by any Copa
car in 2007 and featured as high as third place overall.
Operating four cars in 2008, the team again challenged at
the forefront of the Copa with the highlight of the year being two outright
wins including one around the streets of the Americas Cup Port in Valencia
supporting the Formula 1 European Grand Prix.
Winning a second Championship in 2009, wins kept coming
and Team West-Tec ended 2011 as the reigning the Overall Team Champions as well
as the Copa Champions, having a record better than any other team to have
competed in the European F3 Open.
Five years after returning to Formula 3, Team West-Tec
has a sensational record of 49 wins, 130 podiums, and four Championship titles.
As the only fully English-speaking team in the series,
and with good experience on all of the European circuits that the Championship
now visits, Team West-Tec enters 2012 well placed to build further on its
success.
With the 2011 Championship again having a stunningly good
track selection, the team are looking forward to visiting the tracks as below:
